With the opening of the new Frida Kahlo School, the town of Schweich is sending out a strong signal in favour of integration and modern educational spaces.
The school, which specialises in motor development, was designed as a barrier-free new building and offers a comprehensive range of support for children and young people with physical disabilities – including cerebral palsy, spina bifida and severe multiple disabilities.
Together with the neighbouring primary school, it forms a forward-looking, inclusive educational location.
Lighting solutions for special requirements
The team from Regiolux and its subsidiary lichtwerk were responsible for the optimised lighting concept. The focus was on customised lighting design for the different requirements of the various functional areas – from classrooms and therapy rooms to sports and kitchen areas.
The new gymnasium was equipped with the robust and powerful ‘sportler’ luminaire from Regiolux. This fulfils the highest demands in terms of light quality, ball impact resistance and durability – ideal conditions for sporting and therapeutic activities.
The filigree fino light channel from lichtwerk was used in the classrooms. It impresses with its minimalist design, uniform illumination and high flexibility in lighting design – a valuable contribution to a pleasant learning environment that promotes concentration.
Functional areas such as the school kitchen have also been optimally equipped: Here, the hygiene-compliant and resistant ‘protection’ luminaire from Regiolux provides standard-compliant light under demanding conditions – ideal for rooms with increased cleaning and safety requirements.
